چکیده

Stomata are essential for plant productivity but the genes required for the terminal specification of the stomatal fate are largely unknown. Mutations in the Arabidopsis FOUR LIPS locus, an R2R3 MYB transcription factor, produce clusters of stomata in direct contact. The clusters result from a delay in cell cycle exit and in guard cell specification. In addition to the MYB domain, FLP contains a coiled-coil domain likely involved in protein-protein interaction. To identify putative FLP interacting partners, yeast two-hybrid experiments were carried out. In work in progress, two positive FLP partners have been identified from Arabidopsis cDNA library. One encodes an unknown protein containing four coiled-coil domains, and the other encodes a DnaJ domain-containing protein. The coiled-coil domain in FLP is responsible for the interaction with these two partners. The MYB domain in FLP is also involved in the interaction with the DnaJ domain-containing protein. Biochemical and genetic approaches are currently being pursued to validate the identity of these two proteins as FLP partners and to investigate their participation in the stomata regulatory network
